GRASS, Louis B., 83, of Bridgewater, died June 16th, 2007 at the Hospice House of Auburn. Funeral services will be conducted 1 PM Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at the East Ridge Union Church in Mars Hill.

    BRIDGEWATER – Louis B. Grass, 83, of Bridgewater, Maine went to be with his Lord on June 16th, 2007.  He died at the Hospice House of Auburn, Maine after a brief illness surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on December 8, 1923 in Blaine, Maine, the son of John and Sarah (Mullen) Grass Sr., and brother to John Jr., Ella, Reuben and Mildred.
    Louis is survived by his loving wife, Rowena; his oldest brother, John Jr.; Cynthia and her husband Ronald Dunn of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; Victoria and her husband Glen McGrath of Doylestown, PA and their children John, Benjamin, Michael and Hannah; Cathy and her husband Marc Milliard of Scarborough, ME and their daughter Maren; and Neal and Sharon Grass of Bridgewater, ME and their children Christopher, Danielle, Corey, Blake, and Logan, and one great-grandson, William Anthony.  Louis was predeceased by sons Gregory and Christopher.
    Louis graduated from Aroostook Central Institute, Mars Hill in 1941.  He attended the University of Maine in Orono for two years, majoring in Agriculture.  In 1948, Louis purchased an 80-acre farm in Bridgewater for $3500.  He married Rowena M. Terrell and together they planted 12 acres of potatoes the first year and made enough profit to pay off the debt.  Ten years later, Louis bought 75 additional acres. After 38 years of farming, Louis secured a much-loved position as a part-time Immigration Officer, working at the border in Fort Fairfield, Bridgewater and Houlton. Louis served in the United States Army from 1945 – 1946 as a Sergeant and was stationed in Italy. Louis served as a Board Member with the Child Evangelism Fellowship ministry for 30 years.  He served on the Board of Directors of S.A.D. # 42 for 7 years. Louis attended Faith Baptist Chapel of Blaine, Maine, serving as a Deacon for several years.  He later attended East Ridge Church in Mars Hill, Maine. Each year, Louis looked forward to spending time with his family at the Cabin on Whitney Pond in Oxford.
    Friends and relatives called at the East Ridge Union Church in Mars Hill on Tuesday, June 19 from 6:00-8:00 P.M.  Funeral services will be conducted 1 P.M. Wednesday, June 20 at the church with Pastor Lawrence Beals officiating.  Interment with military honors will take place at Corner Cemetery, Bridgewater.
    Louis is lovingly remembered, sorely missed, but very happy to finally be in heaven! A special thank-you to the Dialysis Center of Presque Isle for the way they made Louis feel so special each day for 8.5 years.  Thank-you also to the employees on R5 of Maine Medical Center.
