Two new coaches are hired at PIHS

PRESQUE ISLE — Presque Isle High School has added to it’s stable of coaches with two new hires.

Marie Beckum has been named head varsity boys cross-country coach.

Her coaching experience includes head alpine ski coach and volunteer coach for cross-country and track and field at Caribou High School. She was also head track and field coach at Limestone Community School/MSSM.

Beckum is also a competitive long distance runner and was named Aroostook County Runner of the Year in 2009.

She earned her under graduate degree from Ohio State University in actuarial sciences with a minor in business and economics. She is scheduled to graduate with a master’s degree from the University of Maine at Orono in teaching mathematics in the fall of 2011.

Beckum and her husband live in Caribou.

SAD 1 Athletic Administrator Mark White also announced the hiring of Dillon Kingsbury as assistant girls varsity soccer coach.

Kingsbury is a 2010 graduate of PIHS where he played varsity soccer, basketball and baseball. He was a member of the 2008 Class B Eastern Maine Champion soccer team.

He has coached middle school basketball in the SAD 45 school system as well as serving as a volunteer coach for the Under 13 AAU Girls Basketball Team.

He was also named the new boys varsity basketball coach at Easton High School.

Kingsbury lives in Presque Isle.
