PRO EDUCATION —

Kenny Hayes (center), a point guard with the Maine Red Claws, conducts a basketball clinic at the Presque Isle Rec Center.

About 40 kids attended the 90 minute clinic.

Kenny Hayes, of the NBDL’s Maine Red Claws, was at the Presque Isle Rec Center, on Thursday, July 23, to put on a clinic sponsored by Dunkin’ Donuts. Hayes ran the kids through a number of defensive and offensive drills during the ninety-minute session. The clinic also focuses on the fundamentals of basketball.

The Maine Red Claws Summer Clinic Series is taking Hayes to nine different communities in the state. The last three clinics are in Poland, Rockland and Portland. Last year the Aroostook County clinic was held in Houlton.

MASCOT HELP —

“This is the kind of old-fashioned, barnstorming event that used to be commonplace among teams years ago, and we can’t thank Dunkin’ Donuts enough for hosting these clinics at their restaurants throughout the state,” said Red Claws President and General Manager, Jon Jennings. “The Red Claws proudly wear “Maine” across the front of our jerseys, and as Maine’s team, we thought this was a great opportunity to visit fans across the state, many of whom may have only had the opportunity to see us on television.

2011-12 will mark the third season for the Maine Red Claws, the minor league affiliate of the Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers and Charlotte Bobcats. The NBA D-League team plays its home games at the Portland Expo Building.
