There will be Washburn pageants held on Saturday, Aug. 13.
The Little Miss and Pre-Teen Miss Washburn Pageant will be held at 2 p.m. at the high school. The Junior Miss, Teen Miss and Miss Washburn pageants will be held that evening. Tickets will be $7 for each pageant and are available from any contestant. For more information, contact Kelly Hemphill at 488-4979.
Salmon Brook Historical Society
The museums of the Salmon Brook Historical Society will be open for tours Sunday afternoons from 1-4 p.m. and Wednesday mornings from 8-11 a.m. For tours at other times, call 455-8279 or 455-4723 a few days in advance to make arrangements.
August Festival plans
Plans for this year’s August Festival are well under way and folks are gearing up for a great time. Brochures will be out soon and the activities will also be listed in the August edition of the County Crossroads.
Friday, Aug. 19, will feature the Baby and Bike Parade, Children’s Plinko, an outdoor theater (“Gnomeo and Juliet”), food booths, Aroostook County Bluegrass and the Alumni Banquet.
Saturday, Aug. 20, will start with a Big Breakfast and feature: the Arts and Crafts Show; the Big Parade; the Historical Society Museum will be open; the SCA Medieval Troop; the Children‘s Carnival; Randy Michaud; Mini tractor rides; Car, Truck, Tractor and Motorcycle Show; and a chicken barbecue. Also on Saturday will be horse-drawn wagon rides, soccer games, the Rubber Ducky Race, Baked Bean Supper, Sound Friendship and an enlarged Fireworks Show.
Sunday, Aug, 21, will feature a Kayak and Canoe Race, Brunch, Antique Tractor Pulls and a Gospel Concert. The Historical Society Museum will also be open for tours.
This is the 150th Anniversary of the town’s founding, so come on out and help celebrate this milestone!
