SUMMER WORK has begun for the Presque Isle Public Works Department.

In late May, crews took advantage of sunny weather to work on projects on Second and Third streets. Here, Harley Carmichael and Chris Perkins are pictured on Second Street. According to Carmichael, the street is scheduled to be re-paved sometime this summer, so work needed to be done grading and creating curb cuts making the area ready for the installation of a new sidewalk. Re-seeding will be done, with a straw covering put in place to aid in re-growth and to prevent erosion. When completed he said residents will be better able to mow their lawns. Similar work will take place in other sections of the city in coming months, including Third Street.
