Rotary Club
The Mars Hill Rotary Club met on Tuesday morning, May 31, at 6:30 at the Aroostook Health Center. Bill Getman was inducted as a new member of the Mars Hill Rotary Club by Assistant District Governor Nancy Fletcher. Bill and his wife, Sylvia, reside in Mars Hill and have three sons. Bill has a BBA in marketing and does some bookkeeping. Sylvia is the CEO of The Aroostook Medical Center.
The special guests were members of the CAHS anatomy class that took a trip to Philadelphia. Seven students and three chaperones went on the trip this spring. They toured the Mutter Museum and also visited the Historical Medical Library, Koop Educational Center and the Benjamin Rush Medicinal Plant Garden. Part of their time was spent in a private lesson on conjoined twins.
They enjoyed their trip and learned a lot, but the event that is still freshest on some of their minds is the fire alarm at the hotel. Imagine five teenage girls sharing a fifth-floor room, all getting ready in the morning, when the fire alarm goes off — twice! Gladly, it ended up being a false alarm!
Those that took the trip included: students Rebecca Grass, Kristen Long, Vicki McIntyre, Whitney Klein, Patricia Donovan, Samuel Bennett and Josh Barton; CAHS anatomy instructor Leigh Belair; and chaperones Natasha Brewer and Greg Averill. Greg was a great asset on the trip as he grew up in the Philadelphia area and knows the area well!
