CITY CELEBRATES MEMORIAL DAY

Spectators who turned out to enjoy the Memorial Day Parade in Presque Isle on Monday had a beautiful day to do so, with plenty of sunshine and a bright blue sky.
The day was marked by ceremonies beginning at Fairmount Cemetery prior to the parade, with the procession stopping at the Park Street intersection to allow for the annual tossing of the wreath into the Presque Isle Stream to honor those who lost their lives at sea. The event concluded with a gathering at Military Park on Main Street. Festivities continued at the VFW later in the day, with a barbecue. Parade participants of all ages took part in this year’s activities, including those pictured, from left: Chloe Wheeler, Miss Pre-Teen Mars Hill 2011; Jordan Fournier, of Millinocket; and members of the local DAV (Disabled American Veterans) Clarence “Mac” McLaughlin, of Limestone; Rod Cameron, of Presque Isle; Virginia Rice; and Denis Madore.
