TOWNSHIP 10 RANGE 3 — Two people were injured Saturday, May 28, while traveling with a group of ATVs for an afternoon ride.

“A group of five ATVs left the East Chapman Road around 11 a.m. and rode around in the area of T10R3. At some point during the ride, members of the group noticed that Juliet Dicker, 37, of Presque Isle, and Dave Hill, 62, of Presque Isle, were no longer with them,” said Alan Dudley, a warden with the Maine Warden Service.

According to Dudley, the group circled back in attempt to locate the pair, who were riding on the same ATV.

“The group backtracked looking for them. The ATV was located off the trail and both people were injured. Juliet was transported to The Aroostook Medical Center by Crown Ambulance and Dave was taken by personal vehicle,” said Dudley.

Initially, Dudley indicated their injuries didn’t appear to be life-threatening. By Sunday, Dudley reported that Dicker had been transported to a Bangor hospital for treatment.

“I believe her injuries are still non-life-threatening but she did have some major lacerations,” Dudley said in a statement Sunday. “I saw the scene today and they were very lucky.”

The cause of the accident is still under investigation but Dudley said it appears operator inexperience may have been a factor. He did not indicate who was driving the machine at the time of the accident.

The incident remains under investigation by Dudley. Also involved in the rescue and investigation were Sgt. Dan Menard, MWS; the Mapleton Fire Department and Presque Isle Police Department.
