Rotary Club recognizes outstanding PIHS seniors

PRESQUE ISLE — The Presque Isle Rotary Club recently recognized two outstanding Presque Isle High School seniors.

FS-DIVYA BISHT-DCX-SH-22 Divya Bisht, daughter of Vikram and Rita Bisht of Presque Isle, was named the nominee for the District 7810 Youth Merit Award. Each Rotary Club within district 7810, which includes clubs in northern Maine and parts of Canada, selects an outstanding senior from their local high school who best exemplifies the Rotary ideals of service, dependability, and leadership. In her letter of support for Bisht’s nomination, Principal Donna Lisnik noted Bisht’s commitment to academics, volunteerism, Girl Scouts of America, and her leadership as president of the Student Council.

Bisht was also named the Outstanding Senior Female and was awarded a $2,000 Rotary scholarship. She will study biology/chemistry at Colby College in the fall.

Receiving the Outstanding Senior Male Award and a $2,000 Rotary Scholarship was Paul Elish,FS-PAUL ELISH-DCX-SH-22
