Athletes shine at County’s

Aroostook League track and field titles were settled last Wednesday, and Presque Isle, Washburn and Fort Fairfield athletes had solid showings in the event.
Caribou won the team title for both girls and boys, with PI second and FF third.
Local female athletes winning individual championships were Carsyn Koch of Washburn in the 1,600-meter run (5:27.5) and the 800-meter run (2:32.1) and Katy Donovan of Fort Fairfield in the discus (93 feet, 6 inches).

Coming in second in their events were Kaitlyn Kinsey of Fort Fairfield in the 100-meter hurdles (18 seconds), Janae Libby of FF in the 300 hurdles (54.9 seconds), Shae Adler of PI in the long jump (13 feet, 5 inches) and Meredith Stewart of Presque Isle in the discus (87 feet, 9 inches) and the shot put (29 feet, 11 inches).
All three girls’ relay teams also were runners-up.
For boys, Jahleel Williams of Fort Fairfield won the 100-meter dash (11.5 seconds) and the triple jump (40 feet, 1/2 inch), Andrew Lewis of FF in the discus (131-4) and Zach Lunney in the shot put (40 feet, 1 inch).
The Wildcats’ 4 X 100 relay team of Sam Clukey, Ben Sipe, Isaac Estey and Logan Good won in 47.1 seconds.
Placing second were Williams in the 200-meter dash (24.8 seconds), Clukey in the 400 (56.8 seconds), Matt Eager of PI in the 3,200 (10:39.4), Mitchell Ayotte of PI in the high jump (5-2) and the long jump (18 feet), Lewis in the triple jump (36 feet, 9-1/4 inches) and the shot put (39 feet, 1 inch), Justin Good of PI in the javelin (128-8), Stephen Goulet of PI in the discus (112 feet) and David Paradis of PI in the pole vault (9 feet, 6 inches).
The PI 4 X 800 relay team also took second place.
