Easton couple arrested for theft in Caribou
CARIBOU — Caribou Police Chief Michael Gahagan reported on May 6 that an Easton man awaiting sentencing on an arson charge has been arrested by the Caribou officers following a three and a half month investigation. Caribou Police advise 25 year old Timothy MacFarline was arrested in relation to a theft of between $90,000 to $95,000 in cash taken from a Caribou residence between late 2010 and early 2011.
MacFarline has been charged with count 1-theft by unauthorized taking, a Class B felony along with count 2-theft by receiving stolen property (also a Class B felony) and count 3-violation of conditional release.
MacFarline was charged and convicted of arson at the Northeast Packaging on November 13, 2009 and is awaiting sentencing.
MacFarline’s bail for the new charge of theft was set at $5,000 cash or $50,000 single surety. As of Friday, MacFarline was being held at Caribou Police Department. No arraignment date had been set.
Also charged with MacFarline in the theft was his wife, Crystal, 25, of Easton. She was charged with theft, a class B felony. Her arraignment date has been set for July 21, 2011.
Primary Investigator is Officer Craig Peterson. Assisting with the arrest was Trooper Kim Espling of the Maine State Police.
