at PIHS Academic Awards Banquet

PRESQUE ISLE — Donna Lisnik, principal at Presque Isle High School, is pleased to announce that the keynote address at the 28th annual Academic Awards Banquet, scheduled for Wednesday, May 25, will be presented by Sue Lougee.

Lougee was a teacher at Skyway Middle School for 33 years, a varsity coach of cross country and track and field for seven years, and is now completing her 26th year as the SAD 1 assistant coach, all teams, in charge of athletic team injuries.

Lougee has received many awards during her career including Maine Middle School Physical Education Teacher of the Year, Exemplary Lifetime Commitment Award in Girls’ & Women’s Athletics, and the Presque Isle Rotary Award for Service to Youth in Presque Isle. She was honored by the Maine Legislature for bringing athletic injury care to Aroostook County and has been inducted into the Maine Sports Legends Hall of Honors in Augusta and the University of Maine at Presque Isle Owls Athletic Hall of Fame.

Presently Lougee works with the Caring Area Neighbors for Cancer Education and Recovery (C-A-N-C-E-R) Bread of Life Program, is the state of Maine Sports Legends president 2011-2013, and a member of the Northern Region Board of Directors of Maine Sports Legends. An active member of the Presque Isle Congregational Church, Sue and her husband, Dana, have two grown children, Mark and Elizabeth, and five grandsons who live in the Portland area.
