ROCKWELL, Warren “Rocky” H., 83, PRESQUE ISLE, April 13, 2011. Interment will be held later at the family’s convenience. Arrangements are in the care of Lancaster-Morgan Funeral Service, Caribou.

Warren “Rocky” H. Rockwell, 83, died April 13, 2011, at the Maine Veterans’ Home, Caribou. He was born in Washburn, on June 5, 1927, the son of Ernest and Pearl (Kennedy) Rockwell.

As a young man, Warren worked on various farms in the area and he learned heavy equipment operation while in the service, 1945 -1947. After serving his country, he worked at the Loring Air Force Base for thirty-five years as a heavy equipment operator and foreman as the base was being built until his retirement in 1982.

Warren enjoyed buying, repairing, and trading used vehicles. He was always on the lookout for slightly used vehicles for a good price for family and friends. Warren loved to tell stories about his adventurous escapades while working at the base and building the family camp on Little Madawaska Lake.

Warren and Josephine truly enjoyed their last twenty-two winters together in the warmth of Florida returning to their home on the Carson Road in Woodland for the summers. But above all, he treasured his family.

Warren is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 63 years, Josephine (Doody); and their five children and their spouses: Galen and Arlene Rockwell of Caribou, Barbara and Ronald Gallagher of Limestone, Keith and Paula Rockwell of North Port, FL., Debra and Melvin Burnham of Skowhegan, and Joseph and Bobbie Rockwell of Fort Kent. He is also survived by the joys of his life, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Lisa Norskog and her husband, Michael, and children, Bryant and Marissa, of Chesa-peake, VA; Ronald Gallagher Jr., of Buenos Aires, Argentina; Jennifer Quinlan and her husband, Michael, and child, Alaina; Karen Ouellette and her husband, Joshua, and children, Claire and Colby, of Caribou; Christopher Rockwell and his wife, Deborah, and child, Elizabeth, of Dover, NH; Nathan Burnham and his wife, Rachelle, and children, Margeaux and Harrison, of Deerfield, NH; Jacob Burnham and his partner, Molly Guideria, of New York, NY; Jason, Justin and his son, Andrew, Joshua Rockwell of Caribou, and Jordyn Rockwell Virginia Beach, VA, Mitchell Cyr of San Diego, CA; one sister, Carolyn Smith and her husband, Ronnie, of Bangor; and sister-in-law, Katherine Doody, of Caribou; and brother-in-law, Harold Scott, of Fort Fairfield.

Predeceased siblings include: Alton, Basil, Merrill, Gladys Scott, Hattie Brooker, and Louise Raymond.

Friends and family called from noon to one on Friday, April 15, at the Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover Street, Caribou, ME. Funeral services followed at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
