PRESQUE ISLE – Charlotte Shapiro, 78, passed away February 28, 2011, at a Bangor hospital. She was born January 23, 1933, in Boston, MA, the daughter of Saul and Bessie (Orenberg) Matulsky.

Charlotte graduated from Jeremiah E. Burke High School, Boston, MA, Class of 1950.

Charlotte married Meredith Shapiro in 1956. She was a devoted wife and loving mother.

Charlotte helped with the family business of Malmark’s Clothing Store in Presque Isle for many years. She volunteered with many local organizations.

Charlotte is survived by her husband of nearly 55 years, Meredith Shapiro; two daughters: Kerri Logue, of MI, and Stacey Shapiro, of CT; three grandchildren: Adam, Jessica, and Stephanie Logue; one brother, Seymour Matulsky.

She was predeceased by her parents, and a brother, Norman Matulsky.

The funeral service was held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 4, 2011, at the Jewish Funeral Chapel, 118 Center St., Bangor, with the Rabbi Steven Schwarzman, officiating.  Interment was in Beth Abraham Cemetery, Bangor.  Those who wish to remember Charlotte in a special way, may make gifts in her memory to CancerCare of Maine, Lafayette Family Cancer Center, C/O Healthcare Charities, P.O.
