E.ON IBU World Cup Biathlon

FIFTH-GRADERS in Gail Hamel’s and Kellie Wood’s classes at Mapleton Elementary School will be attending E.ON IBU World Cup Biathlon competitions Friday at the Nordic Heritage Center and will be cheering on the athletes by ringing commemorative cowbells that were available on a first-come, first-served basis at the Star-Herald office.

Last Wednesday, Star-Herald salesman Scott Galipeau delivered the bells to the students after they filled out their entry forms. BIATHLON BOUND — Fifth-graders in Cheryl Martin’s room at Zippel School are immersing themselves in everything biathlon as the days wind down to the Feb. 4-6 E.on IBU World Cup in Presque Isle at the Nordic Heritage Sport Club. A local biathlete — BethAnn Chamberlain — recently visited Martin’s students, who have adopted Norway as their “home” country.
