SHARON DeMERCHANT, of the Finance Department, was presented a service award by City Manager Jim Bennett during City Council’s Jan. 3 meeting in Presque Isle. DeMerchant has been employed by the city for 30 years.

PRESQUE ISLE — Recognition was given to 23 municipal employees whose combined work history totals 315 years during City Council’s first meeting of the year, held Jan. 3 at City Hall.

City Manager Jim Bennett presented each honoree with an award, acknowledging how the city benefited by each recipient’s dedication to the community.

“The city has a unique way of recognizing longevity with a cash bonus. We honor them for their dedication,” said Bennett.

Those honored for five years of service included: Susan Roberts, Brenda Campbell, Merle Antworth, Linda Brewer, Larry Fickett, Robert Thibeault, Kyle Bartley and Donald McIntosh.

Honored for 10 years were: Glenn LaFrance, Linda Randolph, Ronald Soucier, Scott Cyr, David Cyr and Jason Dean.

Adam Rider and Wayne Howlett were recognized for 15 years as a city employee.

Passing the 20-year mark were: Kelly Cray, Penny Anderson, Mark Barnes, Eric Erickson and Patrick Pelkey.

Marria Bagley was recognized for 25 years and Sharon DeMerchant was honored for 30 years as a municipal employee.

Rounding out the honorees, Carroll Willette took the honor of being the person with the longest record of employment with the city of the group, celebrating 40 years with the Recreation Department.
