PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – ATV enthusiasts will be able to ride some trails in the Star City, effective May 25, according to the Star City ATV Club.
“The club is going to open trails starting Friday night – rail beds only – from Phair Junction south and the Park & Ride north,” said Trail Master Andre Bouley.
Trails normally open by mid-May. This year, mud season came late, delaying the opening of many area routes, including those in Presque Isle. Many areas remain wet or in need of repair.
“Please be patient. We had to wait until trails dried some before beginning repairs. Club members will be out repairing trails in the coming weeks. We’re asking riders to use caution when traveling,” said Bouley.
Caution is advised, since some trails still have maintenance issues and crews will be out working to fix the problems.
“Watch for trail conditions and use reduced speeds to avoid problems. Most importantly, watch for crews working,” said Bouley. “We want everyone to have a good time. We’re working to make trails safe so they can.”
