Lawrence hands PI first hockey defeat

WINSLOW – The Presque Isle varsity hockey team saw its record even at 1-1 after losing to the Lawrence Bulldogs Saturday, 7-3.

The Wildcats allowed five unanswered goals after taking a 3-2 lead on a wrist shot by Connor Shaw early in the second period.

Isaac LaJoie scored the Wildcats’ first goal off assists from Jordan Hallett and Cody Merrill, while Shaw had the second off an Adam Flynn helper. Shaw’s other goal was assisted by Caleb Buck.

Lawrence outshot PI in the match, 42-19.

Josh MacFarline and Nic Davis shared goaltending responsibilities for Presque Isle, which next plays against the Shiretowners at Houlton tonight at 6 p.m.
