BICYCLIST INJURED — Skyway Street was shut down briefly Thursday afternoon following an accident involving 12-year-old girl who lost control of her bicycle as she rode down the hill. The PIPD, PIFD and Crown Ambulance responded. The youth was taking part in a group ride when the incident occurred. Pictured at left is Sgt. Joey Seeley, PIPD, questioning ride participants on what occurred.

Upon arrival, Seeley determined the accident did not involve a motor vehicle but a single bicycle and its rider.
“According to witnesses, a 12-year-old girl from Presque Isle was riding east down over the hill on Skyway Street with some other youths on an organized ride. She lost control and fell face first into the pavement,” said Seeley.
The child’s mother was notified and arrived at the scene a short time after the accident.
The roadway was shut down on both ends while paramedics assisted the victim.
The unidentified youth was wearing a helmet but sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by Crown to The Aroostook Medical Center for treatment.
