Grove Markwood temps at UMPI

PRESQUE ISLE — Susan Grove-Markwood will be temporarily assuming the duties of media relations director at the University of Maine at Presque Isle, covering in the absence of Rachel Rice, who is currently on maternity leave.
“While I’m out, Susan will be handling the day-to-day operations of UMPI’s Community and Media Relations Office. With her extensive experience in public relations, my office couldn’t be in better hands,” said Rice prior to going on leave effective Sept. 24.
Rice said Grove-Markwood will be able to assist with any questions or concerns that normally are addressed by her office.
“Susan will be able to help with any of the things about which you’d normally call or e-mail me,” said Rice.
A part of the Presque Isle community since 1988, Grove-Markwood has been a familiar face in the banking industry, serving in various capacities at a number of local financial institutions. Most recently, in 2006, she coordinated the merger of First Citizens with Gardiner Savings Institution, now Savings Bank of Maine. At Savings Bank of Mane, she was a senior vice president and regional manager, with responsibility for six northern Maine offices along with marketing and communications for the bank on a statewide basis. During this time, she was the project coordinator for the bank’s name change, assisted with two other acquisitions, and also served as the bank’s investment representative (series 6 and insurance licenses) for northern Maine.
