XC squads race in Caribou

    CARIBOU – The Vikings hosted a unique running event Saturday, with every school’s No. 1 runner competing against each other in their own race, followed by No. 2s all the way down to the No. 7s.

    In the Caribou Invitational, the Ellsworth boys and the John Bapst girls were the winners. The Presque Isle girls were fifth and the Wildcat boys took sixth. Washburn finished in a tie for seventh on the boys side.
    On the three-mile course at CHS, the No. 1 girls race was won by Dacie Manion of Old Town in 19:05.03. Alecia Palmer of PI was second in 19:31.34.
    No. 2 girls: fourth, Carsyn Koch, Washburn, 20:18.98; sixth, Emily Wright, Presque Isle, 21:27.91.
    No. 3 girls: fifth, Jaylee Fox, Presque Isle, 22:26.83.
    No. 4 girls: fifth, Amanda Bennett, Presque Isle, 24:56.92.
    No. 5 girls: fifth, Bonnie Corey, Presque Isle, 25:28.99.
    No. 6 girls: fourth, Shelby Condon, Presque Isle, 23:55.41.
    No. 7 girls: fourth, Samantha Simonds, Presque Isle, 26:00.52.
    On the boys’ side, Dan Curts of Ellsworth was the winner for No. 1 runners in 16:18.95. Logan Thibeau of Presque Isle was fifth in 18:15.71 and Washburn’s Nick Bragg was sixth in 18:39.85.
    No. 2 boys: fifth, Saul Nunez, Presque Isle, 19:11.67; ninth, Kyle Huston, Washburn, 21:33.31.
    No. 3 boys: sixth, Trevor Levesque, Presque Isle, 20:37.89; ninth, Cameron Huston, Washburn, 25:07.72.
    No. 4 boys: sixth, Michael Donovan, Presque Isle, 20:09.45; seventh, Kevin Carlson, Washburn, 21:07.64.
    No. 5 boys: sixth, Michael McPherson, Presque Isle, 22:15.5.
    No. 6 boys: fifth, Garth Kinney, Washburn, 23:23.59; seventh, Tyler Michaud, Presque Isle, 23:31.35.
    No. 7 boys: sixth, Dylan Elliott, Presque Isle, 26:04.04.
    The next meet is the Presque Isle Invitational Friday at the University of Maine at Presque Isle beginning at 4 p.m.
