    The Chapman Ridge Runners Snowmobile/ATV Club will be holding a fund-raiser yard sale Saturday, Sept. 18 at their new clubhouse located at 94 Town Hall Road. The sale will be held from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. (different time than what was advertised last week) and a lunch consisting of hot dogs and desserts will be available to purchase. Anyone wishing to donate items for the yard sale (no clothing, please) may bring them to the clubhouse before Sept. 18. The yard sale will benefit the building fund. Come enjoy the sale and take a peak at the new clubhouse. Call Linda Pelletier at 762-3741 with any questions. Items are priced for immediate sale!

Composting class to be offered today

    Northern Maine Development Commission, in conjunction with the Maine State Planning Office, is offering a free compost class TODAY, Wednesday, Sept. 15 at noon at the Mapleton Town Office.
    This backyard composting class, that includes a free Earth Machine compost bin, is for anyone who is considering starting a compost pile and for those who may have started composting but are not getting the desired results. Introductory composting concepts including water, microbes, size and aeration will be discussed.

Free quilting classes

    Are you looking to start a new sewing project, but have run out of ideas? Would you like to have an opportunity to spend some time with friends, or meet new ones all while making a quilt? Gloria Wilcox will be starting a series of free quilting classes for senior citizens starting Wednesday, Sept. 29. Classes will be held Wednesday mornings from 9 a.m.-noon at the Lions Hall. Museum artifacts

    The Haystack Historical Society is in the process of developing the cloakrooms, more commonly known as coatrooms, at the School Museum. The Society is looking specifically for book bags, lunch pails, boots, jackets, hats or any items found in a school cloakroom from the late 1800s through the early 1900s when the school was in operation. If you have any of these interesting items and would like to donate them to the Museum, please contact Secretary Myrna Gardner at 764-0290 or leave a message at the Haystack Historical Society at 764-4111.

 
Community birthday calendars

    The Mapleton Daze Committee is now taking orders for its annual community birthday calendars. Each calendar is $7, which includes five listings. Each additional listing after the first five is 50 cents each. Listings include birthdays, anniversaries, and in memory of a loved one. The deadline to order is this coming Monday, Sept. 20. Mapleton United Methodist Church luncheon

    The United Methodist Church will be hosting its weekly luncheon Friday, Sept. 17 at 11:30 a.m. There is no charge for the luncheon, but donations are accepted. All are welcome to attend.
