UCU opens campus branch
PRESQUE ISLE — Matt Walsh, President/CEO of University Credit Union, has announced the credit union has opened a sixth branch at the University of Maine in Presque Isle.
Stated Walsh, “UCU is very excited about this venture into northern Maine and to have a physical presence at a location where we already have so many loyal members of the credit union. We look forward to serving even more of the University of Maine community with our Presque Isle location.”
The branch is centrally located in the UMPI Campus Center but also easily accessible to non-campus members in the greater Presque Isle area. The space features a public area with a state-of-the-art shared branching kiosk, which is the first of its kind in the state of Maine. The kiosk will allow UCU members and members of other credit unions in the shared branching network to complete transactions that would normally be completed at any shared branching location, with the added convenience of doing so outside of normal business hours. In addition, there will be a UCU branch manager on site to assist members with loan applications and new account openings as well as a computer station for access to all of UCU’s online services.
This new branch marks UCU’s first expansion into Aroostook County, and the fourth campus — including the University of Maine Orono, University of Southern Maine and University of Maine Farmington — that UCU will be serving with a branch. Presque Isle is one of two new branches that are expected to be opened this year, with the second being in the Memorial Union at the University of Maine Orono.
