Bridgewater pageants
Five young ladies and one teen will compete for the titles of Little Miss and Miss Bridgewater on Saturday, May 12. Contestants for Little Miss include Maranda Anthony, Molly Anthony, Michaela Goff, Sabrina Brewer and Halee Rusby. Shelby Hallett is the Miss contestant.
    The pageant will be held at the Old Town Hall on Main Street beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $3 each and can be purchased from the contestants or at the door.

Concert planned
Julie Shaw will appear in concert on Saturday, May 12, at 6 p.m. at the Full Gospel Assembly in Mars Hill. Also performing will be Stan Harris and Andy Shaw. A free-will offering will be taken, all monies going toward Julie’s upcoming mission trip.

Senior citizens’ meals
The Central Aroostook High School cafeteria will be a meal site for area senior citizens on Tuesdays, beginning Feb. 27. Senior citizens will be served at 12 noon each Tuesday that school is in session. The cost of the meal will be $3.25, payable at the meal site.

Rotary Club
The Mars Hill Rotary Club met on Tuesday morning at 6:30 a.m. at the Aroostook Health Center in Mars Hill. The special guests were the newly crowned Miss Greater Mars Hill 2007 Katelyn Field, Junior Miss Mars Hill 2007 Kellie Stitham and Ms. Mars Hill 2007 Millie Meter (Brad Scovil). Katelyn and Kellie will be participating in the Potato Blossom pageants in July.
Katelyn plans to attend UMPI after graduation to study social work while Brad plans to study criminal justice.
Roger Shaw then spoke to the group about the school consolidation plan.

Mother’s Day brunch
Do you want to do something different on Mother’s Day? Bring Mom to the Bridgewater Historical Association Hall for brunch. From 1 to 4 p.m., lots of good things to eat will be served.
Advance tickets are $5 per adult, $3 per child age 10 and under. All tickets will be $7 at the door. So get your tickets early and save.

Bridgewater Historical Association

Garage/food sale
The Bridgewater Community Club will hold a garage and food sale on Saturday, May 12, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Bridgewater Civic Building and asks that the community members help by cooking for the bake sale.
If you are willing to cook for the sale, please contact Pat Lenentine at 429-9444. All funds raised will be used to improve the community.
The club’s current list of projects include: planting flowers around the ‘Welcome to Bridgewater’ signs and the planet Uranus site; purchasing and planting containers with flowers for locations up and down Main Street; repainting the sign at the Civic Building; purchasing and/or repairing tables at the Civic Building and purchasing curtains and/or blinds for the windows at the Civic Building.

Bridgewater Community Club
The Bridgewater Community Club will meet on Thursday, May 31, at the home of Terri Brewer in Mars Hill.
The Community Club has been organized to promote friendship among women of all ages and to undertake projects that improve the community. Membership dues are one dollar per month, and all interested women are invited to attend.

Bridgewater Sesquicentennial
The Bridgewater Sesquicentennial Committee will meet on Wednesday, May 16, at 7 p.m. at the Bridgewater Community Building.
The Bridgewater Sesquicentennial Committee is comprised of members of the general public, the BCA Reunion Committee, Bridgewater Historical Association, Bridgewater Fire Department and Bridgewater Recreation Department.
Plans are being developed for a combined celebration in 2008 of Bridgewater’s Sesquicentennial and the next BCA Reunion, and anyone who is interested is invited to attend the meeting. For more information, contact Mike Crawford at 764-0202.

Ladies Stitch and *itch Group
The Bridgewater Recreation Department has formed a Ladies’ Stitch and *itch Group. The group meets every other Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. at the Bridgewater Civic Building. Ladies of all ages are invited to
attend. There is no charge to attend.
This is an opportunity to bring whatever you are working on: cross-stitch, embroidery, scrapbooking, sewing, etc., and share good conversation while working on your favorite project. If you do not have anything to bring, that’s okay too, as others will be willing share and teach.
The next meeting will be on Tuesday, May 15, at 6:30 p.m. The following meeting will be on May 29.  All are welcome – you don’t have to be a Bridgewater resident to participate, so bring your friends too!
