WADE — A head-on collision the evening of Aug. 11 sent two females — an adult and a juvenile — to The Aroostook Medical Center.
“The Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a two-vehicle accident that happened in Wade on Wednesday at approximately 8:20 p.m.,” said Sgt. Forrest Dudley, ACSO.
According to Dudley, the accident occurred at the intersection of the North Wade Road and Route 228.
“A vehicle being operated by a 16-year-old juvenile (no hometown specified) was traveling north on Route 228 when she attempted to make a left turn onto the North Wade Road. Sylvia Fox, of Wade, was traveling south on Route 228 at the same time with her husband, Larry Fox, as a passenger,” said Dudley.
The juvenile reportedly turned into the path of the Fox vehicle, resulting in a head-on collision.
“Sylvia Fox was transported by Crown Ambulance to TAMC complaining of chest pain. The juvenile was transported to TAMC from the scene by her parents, complaining of pain to her hips,” said Dudley, noting none of the injuries were considered life-threatening.
According to a spokesperson in TAMC’s Public Relations Office, Sylvia Fox was recently discharged following treatment of her injuries. Her husband, Larry Fox, and the juvenile were both treated and released.
Both vehicles sustained extensive damage in the crash.
“The juvenile’s 1996 Dodge Stratus received severe front-end damage. The Fox vehicle, a 2003 Dodge Stratus, also sustained significant front-end damage. Both were considered totaled,” Dudley said.
The accident was investigated by Deputy Mitchell Wheeler, ACSO; with assistance from members of the Washburn Fire Department and Maine State Police.
