Moody to tour northern Maine
with ‘Survivor’ Bob Crowley
GORHAM – Shawn Moody, an independent candidate for governor, will begin a tour of northern Maine next week accompanied by Maine’s own “Survivor” Bob Crowley.
Shawn Moody and Bob Crowley will hold “meet and greets” in Fort Kent, Presque Isle, Bangor and Ellsworth, as well as meet with voters at truck stops, diners, county fairs and restaurants along the way.
In 2008, Crowley, a former teacher at Gorham High School, was the $1 million winner of the television reality show “Survivor: Gabon.” At 57, he was the oldest winner in the history of “Survivor” and he tied the record for winning the most consecutive challenges.
“Bob Crowley’s a real Maine hero and is living proof that anyone can accomplish any goal if you set your mind to it,” said Moody. “I’m honored to have his support. He’s a big draw, and people love meeting him and talking to him about his experiences. And in the process they’ll find out what my campaign is all about and why it’s time to elect a real independent with calluses on his hands who will get Maine working again.”
The Aroostook County tour schedule is as follows:
• Wednesday, Aug. 4: Meet and Greet at Knights of Columbus Hall, Fort Kent, 7 p.m.
• Thursday, Aug. 5: Visit Caldwell Motors, Limestone (TBD); Presque Isle Fair, 3 p.m.; and Meet and Greet at the Northeastland Hotel, Presque Isle, 7 p.m.
Moody, 50, grew up in Gorham where he lives with his wife and four children. He started his first business at age 17 before graduating from high school, and it grew to become Moody’s Collision Center, the largest auto collision repair business in New England with 75 employees in five locations in Maine. The company, which is co-owned by the employees through an Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP), has received several state and national awards for its environmental excellence and business practices, including the 2003 Governor’s Award for Excellence in Business.
