Boy Scouts attend Camp Roosevelt
ASHLAND NEWS
ASHLAND – Thirteen Boy Scouts and three leaders from Ashland Troop 179 recently spent a sunny, fun-filled week at Camp Roosevelt in East Eddington.
In operation since 1921, Camp Roosevelt sits on more than 1,800 acres and was named in honor of President and Conservationist Theodore Roosevelt. While at Camp Roosevelt, the Scouts had the opportunity to earn up to four merit badges each, in addition to shooting at the rifle and archery ranges, swimming, and meeting Scouts from other states and Canada. They camped at Rocky Ridge right next to “Dinosaur Rock,” which is an enormous rock! The boys had plenty of free time to explore the woods and work on making tomahawks and bows and arrows.
Ashland’s Boy Scout Troop 179 would also like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who supported them by participating in the beach ball race and attending their annual barbecue at the Summer Fest.
