WESTFIELD — A resident of Southern Acres Board Home is safe following a night in the woods.
“Lloyd Jandreau, 69 — a resident of the Westfield facility — reportedly went for a walk on the Tweedie Road around 10 a.m. Sunday, July 18. When he failed to return, officials at the home contacted the Maine State Police,” said Sgt. Brian Harris, MSP, who was in charge of the investigation.
Harris said a search began for Jandreau, who is from the Portage area, with no sign of the senior citizen as night approached. Luck was on Jandreau’s side. The man was spotted the next morning — still in Westfield.
“Jandreau was located around 7:30 a.m. Monday, July 19,” he said.
Harris credited the public for helping find the missing man.
“He was found in a yard of a residence on Route 1 in Westfield after State Police received several tips from the public on sightings of him in the Westfield area of Route 1,” said Harris.
According to the sergeant, Jandreau spent the night in the woods in the Westfield area and was located in the yard as he came out of the woods. Crown Ambulance responded and transported Jandreau to The Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle to be checked out as a precaution.
“The Maine State Police wishes to thank the public for their assistance in locating Jandreau,” said Harris.
