PIHS athletes gain weekly recognition
The Presque Isle High School Varsity Club and Big Cheese Pizza are pleased to congratulate Caleb Mathers and Kailee Ireland for being selected as athletes of the week for the week of May 10-15 and Matt Chasse and Alecia Palmer for receiving the honor for the week of May 17-22.
Mathers held his No. 1 seed in the Regional Singles Tennis Tournament by winning both matches, and in turn qualified for the round of 16 tournament to be held at Bates College. Ireland also qualified for the girls’ state singles tournament.
Chasse pitched a four-hitter to lead the varsity baseball team past MDI, while Palmer also went the distance on the mound to help the varsity softball team past MDI.
