The Presque Isle Wildcats may have taken themselves out of playoff contention after losing both games of a home doubleheader against Bucksport Monday. The Wildcats are 6-9 and in 11th place in Eastern Maine Class B, and need a victory at Caribou this afternoon in their final game to even have a slight chance of creeping into the top 10.

In EM Class D, Ashland and Central Aroostook have identical 8-6 records and are fourth and fifth, respectively, in the standings. The Hornets were scheduled to take on Katahdin yesterday in their final regular season game, while CA hosted Fort Fairfield yesterday and are to play Wisdom today in St. Agatha.
The top nine teams qualify in ‘D’ and Fort Fairfield (4-11) still has a slight chance to get in, but needs a win over CA in its finale and some other breaks to fall its way in order to do so. Washburn completes its slate at home against East Grand this afternoon and hopes to break into the win column for the first time after an 0-15 start.
The preliminary round of the playoffs gets under way Tuesday, June 8, with the quarterfinals set for Thursday, June 10 and the semifinals Saturday, June 12.
