ASHLAND – Alfred J. Dube, 72, died May 29, 2010, at Maine Veterans Home in Caribou, after a long illness. He was born in Caribou, June 18, 1937, the son of Raymond and Rose (Gagnon) Dube.
Alfred was a US Army veteran, serving during the Cold War in Alaska from 1957-1959. He was married to Joyce (Jimmo) Dube on June 4, 1960. He was employed as a heavy equipment mechanic for Big Brook and Pine Tree Trucking for 35 years.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Joyce (Jimmo) Dube of Ashland; two sons, Todd Dube and his wife Sheila of Ashland, and Paul Dube and his wife Diana of Damariscotta; one daughter, Maria Cole and her husband Jeffrey of Alabama; one sister, Linda Guillemette of Caribou; five grandchildren, Lucas Dube of Ashland, Nicholas Dube of North Carolina, Adam Cole, Ayla Cole and London Cole, all of Alabama; two God-daughters, Cindy Morton of Ashland and Tina Guillemette of Florida; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Paul Dube.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no visiting hours or formal funeral service. A graveside committal service will be held at the St. Mark Cemetery at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 3.
