Mapleton Rec to provide kids
new summer options
MAPLETON NEWS
Applications are now available at the Town Office for the highly anticipated summer recreation activities!
Melanie Mowbray is returning for her second year as rec director! In an effort to utilize the resources available in our community, she has made plans to add several new options for this summer including basketball, volleyball, flag football for 13-16-year-olds, “fun games,” and kickball for the younger children. Older youth will also be invited to play during the one-hour block reserved for “fun games.” The fun games category will be offered Monday through Friday at various times depending on the age group. This new option in the schedule will allow children a chance to play tag games, Frisbee, kickball, and many other exciting outdoor running games.
The schedule this year is set up on a rotating basis, in one-hour increments with activities planned for children ages 3-16. In addition to the new activities planned, the same popular ones will still be offered: swimming lessons, t-ball/baseball, arts and crafts, and tennis. The fees for residents are $10 per activity per child with a maximum fee per child of $20. The maximum fee per family is $40. For non-residents, the fee for one child is $15 per activity with a maximum fee per child of $30. The maximum fee for a non-resident family is $60.
Melanie welcomes any questions! You can contact her at the Town Office at 764-3754 or via e-mail at melanieomowbray@gmail.com. After an overwhelming response to the potential discontinuation of the Mapleton, Chapman, and Castle Hill summer rec program, it is now time to follow through with our promise to support our own tri-community program! Please register your child(ren) for a summer full of fun activities in our own backyard!
