’Cat tennis teams ready for playoffs

    PRESQUE ISLE — The Presque Isle boys and girls tennis teams both appear to be playoff bound as the regular tennis season winds down this week. The Wildcats end the regular season today, hosting Fort Kent. 

    The Presque Isle boys (10-1, 85.7639 Heal Points) were second in Eastern Class B as of Tuesday morning, while the Wildcat girls (8-3, 50.9722) were sixth. The top eight squads qualify for the tournament.
    Girls results from last weekwere as follows:
    Presque Isle 5, Old Town 0— At Old Town Monday, the individual results, with Wildcats listed first, were: Kailee Ireland (6-5) defeated Emily Boutin, 8-4; Dani Wolland (7-4) beat Sharon Gunning, 8-4; and Madelyn Carson (5-5) bested Haleigh Bond, 8-2.
    In doubles, Lindsay Michaud (8-3) and Divya Bisht (7-3) beat Taylor Campbell and Kristin Gaudette, 8-2; and Deidre Dicker (8-3) and Katheryn Sharp (2-0) defeated Shelby Bajowski and Rebecca Gifford, 8-0.
    Presque Isle 5, Mattanawcook 0 — At Presque Isle Saturday, the individual results, with Wildcats listed first, were: in singles, Ireland defeated Catherine Chan, 8-1; Wolland beat Nicole Ravosa-Riordan, 8-5; and Michaud beat Abbie Priest, 8-0.
    In doubles, Dicker and Sharp beat Ciara Tolman and Katie Krapf, 8-4; and Elise Jones (1-0) and Chelsey Carroll (1-0) defeated Jasmine Long and Kara-Beth Farrel, 9-7.
    Presque Isle 4, Madawaska 1 — At Presque Isle Wednesday, May 19, the individual results, with Wildcats listed first, were: in singles Ireland lost to Audrey Bergeron, 4-8; Wolland beat Jenna Parent, 8-4; and Ma. Carson beat Emily Collins, 8-4.
    In doubles, Michaud and Bisht bested Megan Ouellette and Ashley Pelletier, 8-0; and Me. Carson and Dicker bested Sarah Ringuette and Roxy Levesque, 8-4.
    Boys results were as follows:
    Presque Isle 4, Old Town 1— At Old Town Monday, the individual results were not available by presstime.
    Presque Isle 5, Mattanawcook 0— At Presque Isle Saturday, the individual results, with Wildcats listed first, were: in singles, Caleb Mathers (8-1) beat Patrick Kite, 8-1; Connor Shaw (9-0) bested Nick Libbey, 8-1; and Chris Cawley (6-3) defeated Tyler Wakefield, 8-4.
    In doubles, Kyle Gilson (6-3) and Emerson Mendieta-Castro (6-3) beat Matt Johnson and Rusty Phillips, 8-1; and Osman Mendieta-Castro (8-0) and Brock Cassidy (4-0) defeated Sciden Porter and Dillon Hesseltine, 8-0.
    Presque Isle 4, Madawaska 1 — At Presque Isle Wednesday, May 19, the individual results, with Wildcats listed first, were: in singles, Mathers defeated Nathan Beaulieu, 8-5; Shaw beat Chris Lizotte, 8-4; and Cawley bested Matt Deschanes, 8-2.   
    In doubles, Gilson and E. Castro lost to Jamie Cyr and Jacques Daigle, 3-8; and O. Castro and Cassidy beat Aaron Thibodeau and Greg Faucher, 8-1.
