Twins share academic honors

    Central Aroostook Junior-Senior High School of Mars Hill has announced the honor parts for the Class of 2010. The valedictorian is Brianna Hartin and the salutatorian is Chelsea Hartin, who are twin sisters. The first honor essayist is Ethan Stiles and the second honor essayist is Garrett Stiles, who are twin brothers. This is a very unique year!

    The Class of 2010 will graduate on June 11, with exercise being held in the Central Aroostook Jr.-Sr. High School gymnasium at 7 p.m.

 
Valedictorian
Brianna Hartin

    Brianna Hartin is the daughter of Stan and Paula Hartin of Mars Hill. Brianna has participated in the National Honor Society, the Math Team, yearbook and the mentoring program. She has also been an instrumental part of the varsity basketball and softball teams. She earned Most Valuable Player on both teams as well as Eastern Maine Class D-All Tourney Team and Aroostook County Senior All-Star.    Brianna is also heavily involved in her church community, serving as the Friday night worship leader, the church bulletin secretary and a church deaconess.
    Brianna has been recognized for her efforts, earning academic awards such as United States Achievement Academy, Maine Principal’s Association Award, Maine McDonald’s Academic All-State Team and highest honors on the Central Aroostook honor roll. Brianna has volunteered at the Wilderness Day Camp counseling young girls in the summer.  She also volunteers with the Head-Start program daily at Fort Street Elementary School. She has also been involved with summer sports camps, blood drives and the Special Olympics. Next year, Brianna will be attending the Southern Adventist University in Tennessee to study pre-medical/biology.

Chelsea Hartin

    Chelsea Hartin is the daughter of Stan and Paula Hartin of Mars Hill. Chelsea has participated in the National Honor Society, the math team, yearbook and the mentoring program. She served this year as the president of the National Honor Society. She has also been a leader on the varsity basketball and softball teams, serving as a captain this year. She earned Most Valuable Player on the basketball team this year as well as Aroostook County Senior All-Star. Chelsea is also involved in her church community, serving as the Friday night worship leader, the church bulletin secretary and a church deaconess.

1st Honor Essayist
Ethan Stiles

     Ethan Stiles is the son of Jeb and Shelby Stiles of Mars Hill. Ethan has participated in varsity ski team and soccer team. He has also been a part of  the National Honor Society, French Club and an instrumental part of the Student Council. Ethan has been recognized for his achievements, earning Student of the Month awards, the Advanced Geometry and Algebra II awards, and academic letter and pin. Ethan has also been recognized recently as a six-year honoree, which means he has achieved the honor roll at Central Aroostook for 23 consecutive quarters. In 2009 he was voted Student of the Year by the faculty at Central Aroostook. Ethan volunteered for 100 hours at the Bedford VA Alzheimer’s Research Center in Boston, Mass., while in high school. Ethan plans to go the to the University of Maine to study biology.

Garrett Stiles

    Garrett Stiles is the son of Jeb and Shelby Stiles of Mars Hill. He has participated in many activities at Central Aroostook including varsity soccer, basketball and baseball. He earned a three-year plaque and pin in all three sports and was voted the Most Valuable Player of the soccer team in 2009. He also participated in Yearbook Committee, Math Team, Student Council, French Club and the National Honor Society.  Garrett has been recognized for his efforts by earning academic achievement awards and Student of the Month. He has also earned high honors every quarter while in high school. Garrett has volunteered at the Veteran’s Day breakfast, school blood drives and summer sports camps for kids. Garrett plans to study chemistry/pre-pharmacy at Husson University in Bangor.
