PRESQUE ISLE – At the core of U.S. Cellular is the focus on customer service. In order to provide an ideal experience for every customer day in and day out, leaders must be able to motivate their associates. U.S. Cellular’s Leadership Academy of New England (LANE) helps associates realize how they can make a difference for the company, their customers and in their own professional growth.

The company is pleased to announce Jody Doughty, retail wireless consultant in Presque Isle, has been chosen to participate in the 2010 Leadership Academy of New England. He is one of 17 associates that have been chosen to attend this eight-month program teaching leadership skills in competencies like high impact communication, making effective decisions, and developing others. This knowledge will provide him with the tools to lead other associates. The graduates continue their training and development with quarterly forums and mentorship programs.
“U.S. Cellular’s Leadership Institute is another example of how we invest in the ongoing development of our associates,” said Eric Conlon, director of sales for U.S. Cellular in New England. “This training better enables Jody to help all associates provide the ideal customer experience, which is the foundation of U.S. Cellular’s Dynamic Organization (D.O.) business model.”
The concept behind the D.O. is simple: effective leaders build satisfied associates, who in turn deliver outstanding customer service – thus increasing customer loyalty and revenue. In an industry dominated by giant carriers, U.S. Cellular is proving that being passionate about its associates – and the customer service they provide – can be the key to thriving in a highly competitive industry.
“Attending the Leadership Academy is a tremendous opportunity for me to understand the dynamics of our organization such as trust, passion and motivation,” said Doughty. “I look forward to continuing not only to deliver for our customers but being an enthusiastic role model for my peers.”
