Each vote counts

To the editor:
On May 18th, Presque Isle and other SAD 1 voters will cast ballots on the proposed $22,106,759 SAD 1 budget. If last year can be used as a guide, the voting margin may be slim. In 2009, the SAD 1 budget was first rejected by 130 votes in the municipality of Presque Isle. Then, in a second secret-ballot referendum later in June, a revised budget, trimmed down by $419,672, passed by a 42-vote margin in Presque Isle.

In Madawaska last year, the school budget was placed before voters three times, before a smaller budget was finally approved. So don’t think your one vote won’t count. Voters should contact their town offices for polling times and location.
