Seasoned worker forum planned
“We’re starting to crawl out of the worst recession many of us have ever seen – but we’re coming out of it with many new opportunities and 2010 will be a much better year,” said Dave Tomm, president of the Seasoned WorkforceTM LLC. “We’re a clever, industrious people and we’re slowly getting back to work to rebuild our economy. What’s different now is that we’ll need workers of all ages for existing and some emerging industries. With a shrinking workforce and far fewer younger people in the labor pipeline, seasoned workers will need to continue working in some capacity. Our Seasoned Worker Forums investigate the problems and the opportunities for older workers through open discussions with area businesses.”
Two separate Seasoned Worker Forums have been scheduled for the Presque Isle Career Center on Wednesday morning, April 21, and at the Houlton ACAP Center on Friday morning, April 23. Both forums are scheduled from 9 a.m. until noon. These popular events are free and are being sponsored by the ACAP Employment and Training and by the Presque Isle Career Center, in conjunction with Seasoned Workforce LLC and several local businesses. To learn more about the issues facing older workers, call 800-635-0357 today for more information and to reserve your seat. Space is limited. To contribute your ideas, improve your hire potential and even discover job opportunities, put one of these forums on your calendar.
For more information about older worker issues, the Seasoned WorkforceTM Web site, www.seasonedworkforce.com, provides important information, news and helpful links for seasoned workers and to age-neutral employers.
These events are funded in part by a grant awarded under the President’s Community-Based Job Training Grants, as implemented by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration, in collaboration with Maine’s four Workforce Investment Boards. This activity is an equal opportunity employer/program – auxiliary aids and services are available upon request to individuals with disabilities. There is no cost to attendees.
