Four compete for Miss Presque Isle 2007

 PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – Four young ladies will take to the stage this weekend hoping to become Miss Presque Isle 2007.
This year’s event will take place April 28 beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Presque Isle High School.
    Contestants include: Nicole Ballard, Kassandra Dumais, Germaine Scott and Morgan Svitila. Ashley Sweetser will also take part, making her final appearance as Miss Presque Isle 2006.
Ballard is the 18-year-old daughter of Patrick and Paula Ballard and Robin and Mark Demers. Future plans include attending college at Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee where she will major in music business. She will being singing “And Now my Lifesong Sings,” written and performed by Mark Hall, the lead singer of Casting Crowns, for her talent.
Dumais is the daughter of Steven and Denise Dumais. The 17-year-old will be attending Northern Maine Community College in the fall, majoring in early childhood education, participating in the Early College for Me program sponsored by the Maine Community College System where she will obtain early college credits. Dumais will be performing “Where Would You Be” by Martina McBride for her talent presentation.
Scott is the 16-year-old daughter of Richard and Tammy Scott. Scott hopes to one day earn a bachelor’s degree in political science, followed by law school to become a lawyer with the ultimate goal of working in politics. She will be performing a vocal selection entitled “Only One Road” by Celine Dion.
Svitila is the daughter of Cheryl Lorraine Lyons and Joseph John Svitila. The 17-year-old, who is interested in studying criminal justice, plans to attend college and possibly join the military. For her talent, Svitila will be dancing to “I Believe” from the soundtrack “Honey.”
Tickets are $8 and are available at the Presque Isle Area Chamber of Commerce or from any contestant.
