Girl Scouts celebrate World Thinking Day
Troop 726 leader
PRESQUE ISLE – Girl Scout Troop 726 is a multi-level troop of girls from Mapleton, Presque Isle and Washburn. We are 17 girls in Daisy, Junior and Cadette levels. We meet every Monday after school in Presque Isle.
This month we’ve had a movie day and a CSI day.
On Feb. 22, we celebrated World Thinking Day by learning about the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) and the five countries selected by Girl Scouts to represent the five regions of WAGGGS (Germany, Kuwait, Peru, the Philippines and South Africa).
We had currency from the different countries to look for similarities to our own, a sample of Alpaca fiber before it is spun into yarn, ethnic food to try and made African drums out of Styrofoam cups and duct tape. Things we are excitedly looking forward to are the Daisy, Junior and one of the Cadettes bridging up to their next level.
At the Robotic Event in June, the girls get to work with a LEGO Mindstorms NXT Robot, and some of the girls will be attending Camp Natarswi this summer.
