Mapleton Baptist motor coach tour 2007
The United Baptist Church of Mapleton is pleased to announce that brochures and registration materials are now available for the 2007 edition of the annual deluxe motor coach tour. Highlighting the tour this year will be a performance of “In The Beginning” at the new Millennium Theatre at Sight and Sound Theatres in Strasburg, Penn. This new epic musical brings creation to life as you have never seen it before. With special effects never seen before on sight and sound stages, “In The Beginning” promises to be an experience beyond your imagination.
The other highlight of the trip will be an all-American BBQ on the beautiful grounds of Tanglewood and a performance by the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Listen to the music of Beethoven, Mozart, Harbison and Ravel from your covered seat at the Koussevitzky Music Shed.
The trip will also include: a guided tour of Amish farmlands and villages, a family-style lunch in an Amish home, shopping at Kitchen Kettle Village, shopping at the 400 store King of Prussia Mall, the Norman Rockwell Museum, free time in the historic village of West Stockbridge, Mass., and shopping at the Prime Outlets in Lee, Mass.
The trip leaves on Monday, July 30, and returns Saturday, Aug. 4. Departures will be from Mapleton, Houlton, Bangor and other places as needed. The tour includes: motor coach travel, five nights lodging, 11 meals, professional driver, full-time guide and the attractions listed above.
Brochures and registration information are available at Graves Shop ‘n Save in Presque Isle, Mapleton Lunch and The Pizza House in Mapleton, or by calling Pastor Ken Phelps at 764-6776. Seats are limited so please register at your earliest convenience.
Castle Hill Grange Hall Preservation Society
The Castle Hill Grange Hall Preservation Society is in desperate need of new members and need fresh ideas. Please give them an hour of your time once a month to help keep the building operating. The fund-raisers they have are just paying their expenses and leave them with little else to do their projects. If you have enjoyed voting, going to town meetings, their suppers, having a reasonable hall to rent right in your own town, and other events, please consider helping to keep their organization going for future years. Working member is $10 per year, or $15 for non-working member or $100 for a lifetime membership. Their meetings are the fourth Tuesday of the month from February through November.
They have candy bars on sale at Chandler Farms, Percy’s Auto Sales, and the Mapleton Town Office. You can also get them from any member. They have only 30 cookbooks left. These will become collectors’ items, as there will not be another re-printing. They will start renting the hall in May until October. Please see any member for details. Further projects and events will be listed. Please support them.
They are requesting that anyone who has knowledge of a veteran who served in the military between 1903 to the present to write or call Natalie Maynard, 2877 State Road, Castle Hill, Maine 04757 or 764-4878. They need names, dates, and any information you can give them so they can place the names on a sign or in a book in the future. The person must have been a resident of Castle Hill at the time of service.
