The University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Outdoor Adventure Program International (OAPI) is hosting a ski outing at Aroostook State Park Friday, March 12. No previous skiing experience is needed and all skill levels are welcomed, as participants explore the park’s 15 miles of groomed trails.
Equipment and a free ride will be provided, although participants must pay the $1.50 park day pass fee. Meet at Gentile Hall on the UMPI campus at 2:15 p.m. For information or to register, call 768-9401.
The University of Maine at Presque Isle baseball team will host a one-day pitching clinic for boys and girls ages 10-16 on Tuesday, March 16 from 6-9 p.m. in Wieden Gymnasium.
With assistance from coach Leo Saucier and UMPI baseball team members, participants learn basics of pitching mechanics and take part in fielding and defensive drills for pitchers. All will have the opportunity to have their pitching motion captured on video for feedback cues. The registration fee is $30 and proceeds will benefit the UMPI baseball team’s spring trip expenses.

The Presque Isle High School Varsity Club and Big Cheese Pizza are pleased to congratulate Caleb Buck and Nate Ackerson for being selected as athletes of the week for the week of Feb. 22-26.
Buck scored a goal to help the hockey team past Winslow 3-2 in the semi-finals of the Class B Eastern Maine Ice Hockey tournament.
Ackerson’s leadership during the volleyball team’s pre-season has helped both the veterans and rookies prepare for this year’s season.
The Northern Maine Softball Umpires Association will hold an umpiring clinic for both new and veteran softball umpires on Saturday, March 13 from 9 a.m.-noon at Presque Isle High School.

The Northern Maine Board of Approved Soccer Officials will hold a clinic for prospective soccer officials at the New Sweden Elementary School.
Bob Stedt of New Sweden will be the clinician.
The first meeting will be held Monday, March 15 beginning at 6:30 p.m. The meeting dates for the remainder of the course will be determined by those attending.
