ImageImage    SCOUTS GO CAROLING — On Dec. 13, the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts of Troop 171, of Presque Isle, visited the Presque Isle Nursing Home to spread some Christmas cheer. The boys sang Christmas carols, read from the Bible and handed out handmade Christmas cards to the residents of the nursing home.

The Scouts of Troop 171 of Presque Isle began their annual Scouting for Food drive on Nov. 14. Scouts passed out bags with a paper attached stating what Scouting for Food was, where the items were being donated and a list of suggested items. People were asked to leave their donations out on Nov. 21 for the scouts to pick up. This year the Scouts had their greatest response yet!  Over 1,538 items of non-perishable food were collected. All items went to GIFT-Interfaith Food Pantry for distribution to families in need. GIFT is a non-profit partnership working to meet hunger needs in Presque Isle, Mapleton and Chapman. Pictured, from left, are Brian Poitras and Joesiah as they sort and pack some of the many items collected that day.
