The Bangor Daily News announced its all-tournament teams for the Eastern Maine Tournament last week.
Amanda Hotham of Fort Fairfield was the Owen Osborne Most Valuable Player for Class D girls. The sophomore forward scored 76 points in the three games and set Class D records for most free throws in a tournament (35) and in a single game by sinking 15 in the Tigers’ title game win over Central Aroostook. Vicki McIntyre of Central Aroostook and Brooke Beaulieu of Fort Fairfield were also named to the Class D all-tourney team.
McIntyre, a sophomore, was the Panthers’ leading scorer during its run to the regional final, scoring 20 points in victories over Jonesport-Beals in the quarterfinals and Bangor Christian in the semis, while also leading her team with 16 points in the loss to Fort Fairfield in the finals.
Beaulieu provided depth in Fort Fairfield coach Larry Gardner’s frontcourt, and the junior was a force on defense and in rebounding for the Tigers.
Presque Isle freshman Chandler Guerrette made the Class B team. She led her team in scoring in both the quarterfinal win over Waterville and the semifinal loss to Nokomis.
Receiving honorable mention were Kayla Richards of Presque Isle in Class B and Rachael Grew and Brianna Hartin of Central Aroostook, Rebecca Campbell of Washburn and Danielle Tracy of Fort Fairfield in Class D.
For boys, junior Travis Noyes and senior John McNamee were voted to the Class D all-tourney squad.
Despite playing on an injured ankle, Noyes led the Tigers to the final. His two free throws with 13.3 seconds left in the semifinals gave Fort Fairfield a one-point win over Shead of Eastport, and he had 16 points and 12 rebounds in the title game against Schenck.
McNamee provided Fort Fairfield with a strong low-post presence throughout the playoff run. He tallied 30 points and 18 rebounds in the quarterfinal win over Southern Aroostook and averaged 12.7 rebounds in the three games.
Travis Dyer, a junior for the Presque Isle Wildcats, received honorable mention in Class B.
