Ashland to hold alumni basketball event
It’s being called both “End of an Era” and “One More Time Down the Court.” Either way, an alumni basketball event is being held Saturday, March 13 at the Bobby Goding Gymnasium in Ashland from 4-7 p.m. The event is taking place as the gymnasium, which was built in 1950, is being demolished this summer with the new school being constructed.
Anyone who has ever played basketball at Ashland is encouraged to attend the get together. Call 435-3481 for more information. Baseball umpire clinics
The Northern Maine Board of Approved Baseball Umpires will hold clinics for new members beginning tonight. Interested individuals should meet in the North Classroom in Weiden Hall on the University of Maine at Presque Isle campus at 6 p.m. tonight.
The cost of the clinic is $40, which includes the rule book. Future class dates will be discussed.
Those passing the board test and mechanics session will be eligible to begin working this spring at the middle school level.
For more information, contact board interpreter Bill Casavant at 768-9475 during the day or 764-0810 after 5 p.m.
