OCALA, FL. and PRESQUE ISLE – Velma Grass MacDonald, 99, wife of the late Hedley MacDonald, died Feb. 5, 2010, in Ocala, Fl. She was born on June 6, 1910 in Mars Hill, the daughter of Eldon and Grace (Stairs) Grass.
Velma and Hedley enjoyed remodeling homes. She always had a garden, and was always busy. She moved to Florida after the death of her husband in 1989. Velma acquired a dog, whom she named Princess, and truly loved.
She is survived by three sons, Dana H. and his wife Marion of Ocala, Fl, Elwood E. and his wife Georgette of Laconia, NH, and Rev. Dr. Galen “Joe” and his wife Pam of Sandy Lake, PA; a daughter Pearl Carmichael of Presque Isle; two sisters, Euda Bragdon of Delaware, and Cora Brown of Westbrook; a daughter-in-law Marilyn MacDonald of Brewer; a son-in-law Richard H. Duncan of Presque Isle; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Hedley, a son Gary E. MacDonald, and a daughter Maxine M. Duncan.
