County’s best spellers
THE COUNTY SPELLING BEE was held Feb. 3 at Presque Isle Middle School.
Among those participating were, from left: Marissa Chasse, Ashland Middle/High School’s spelling bee finalist; Ben Philbrook, Ashland Middle/High School’s spelling bee finalist; Kylee Carter, winner of the Easton Junior/Senior High School spelling bee; Emma Bonner, Easton Junior/Senior High School’s runner-up; William Popov, winner of the Presque Isle Middle School spelling bee; and Angela Hallowell, Presque Isle Middle School runner-up. The County Spelling Bee was won by Joshua Stover from Wisdom Middle/High School, who correctly spelled “hypothesis” in the 14th round to claim the title. Stover will represent Aroostook County in the state spelling bee later this month. Stover also won the County Spelling Bee last year.
