UMPI hosts seminar
PRESQUE ISLE — Dr. Bonnie Wood of the University of Maine at Presque Isle will offer a noontime seminar on Thursday, Feb. 11, from 12:30–1:30 p.m. titled “Serendipity: Student –Led Teaching Models.” The talk is part of a continuing series of free, public Faculty Noon Seminars held throughout the spring semester in the UMPI Faculty Lounge, Normal Hall.
Wood will discuss how she stumbled upon a teaching method that has become the foundation of her biology and genetics courses and has led her to deliver national presentations on the subject and to publish a book, “Lecture-Free Teaching: A Learning Partnership between Science Educators and their Students,” published in 2009 by the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) Press.
