FIVE-YEAR-OLD Wilson Saucier of Presque Isle was all smiles when he met Santa Claus at the recent “Lunch with Santa” fund-raiser for the Caribou Children’s Discovery Museum. Held at the Presque Isle Elks Lodge 1954, the event featured such activities as a holiday reading center, face painting, making bookmarks and writing letters to Santa.

PRESQUE ISLE – Kids of all ages enjoyed fun, games and Lunch with Santa at a Dec. 19 fund-raiser for the Caribou Children’s Discovery Museum.
Held at the Presque Isle Elks Lodge 1954, the event featured activities such as a holiday reading center, face painting, making bookmarks and writing letters to Santa which were then hand delivered to him shortly after his arrival.
“Children at Christmastime love to meet Santa and tell him what they would like for Christmas, so we wanted to provide them an opportunity to be able to do that and to have lunch and make it a social event,” said Nancy Chandler, museum president. “We also wanted to provide activities to showcase some of the different things that we will have in the children’s museum, so parents can see what is coming when we build the facility.”
The Presque Isle High School Key Club, Haley Smith and other Girl Scouts from Troop 81 assisted in the project. Smith, a sophomore at PIHS, is working on her Gold Award and used the event as part of her project on ABCs of Reading for the Caribou Children’s Discovery Museum.
Lunch consisted of a hot dog, chips, drink, cookies and cake, and for an additional charge, children could have their pictures taken with Santa. Raffle tickets for a savings bond were also sold.
