Movies
The Fort Fairfield Parks and Recreation Department is conducting a field trip to the Caribou Movie Theater on Thursday, Dec. 31 to see either “Alvin and the Chipmunks” or the “Princess and the Frog”. Participants must be 10 years of age or older to attend on their own or be accompanied by a responsible chaperone. The movies begin at 10 a.m. and the bus will depart from the community center at 9:30 a.m. and return to the community center at noon. The cost is $5 per person which includes transportation, admission to the movie, popcorn, and a soda. Gentile Hall
The Parks and Recreation Department is conducting a field trip to Gentile Hall at UMPI on Tuesday, Dec. 29 from 9:30 a.m. to noon. The bus leaves the community center at 9 a.m. and returns to the community center at 12:30 p.m. Participants must be at least 10 years of age or older to attend on their own or be accompanied by a responsible chaperone. The cost is $5 per person which includes transportation and admission to Gentile Hall. Activities include swimming, rock wall climbing, and open gymnasium games.
Adult Basketball
The Fort Fairfield Community Center is open for adult basketball on Monday and Thursday evenings (except holidays) from 6-8:30 p.m. Play is informal each night with teams being selected from all those in attendance. The cost is $2 per player per night.
Co-ed Volleyball
Co-ed Volleyball is held every Sunday night at the Fort Fairfield Community Center from 6-8 p.m. The program is for participants that are high school age and over. Teams are selected each night from all those in attendance. There is no cost to participate.
Open Gymnasium
The Fort Fairfield Community Center Gymnasium and game room are open for all ages on Friday and Saturday evenings from 6-8:30 p.m., Saturday afternoons from 1:30-4 p.m. and Sunday afternoons from noon-4 p.m. Open gymnasium hours will be expanded during Christmas school vacation to include noon-4 p.m. Monday-Friday (closed Christmas Day). Participants are reminded to please not wear street shoes on the gymnasium floor. There is no cost associated with attending open gymnasium.
Ski Rental Program
The Fort Fairfield Parks and Recreation department is once again renting cross-country ski packages to Fort Fairfield students for the upcoming ski season. The cost is $25 per package for the first family member and $20 per package for any additional brothers and sisters. Each ski package includes: skis, bindings, boots, and poles. Big Rock Tickets
Reduced rate ski tickets to ski at Big Rock Mountain in Mars Hill, scheduled to open Saturday, are available at the parks and recreation department. The cost is $20 for students and $24 for adults for each full day ski pass. Stop by the parks and recreation department or call 472-3882 to make arrangements to pick up your Big Rock tickets today.
