The Presque Isle Wildcats bounced back from their season-opening loss to Brewer with a pair of shutout victories last week.
Josh MacFarline had the goalie duties in last Tuesday’s 4-0 home victory over Houlton-Hodgdon and he stopped all 27 shots he faced. Offensively, The ’Cats were powered by senior Mitch Davis, who scored a pair of goals and assisted on another. Connor Shaw and Brennen Shaw had PI’s other goals, while Zac Campbell notched an assist.

On Friday, Presque Isle was on the road against John Bapst and earned another 4-0 triumph. This time, it was Nic Davis getting the start in goal and he blanked the Crusaders with 16 saves.
“The defense is doing a great job of limiting Grade A scoring chances. We have four experienced defensemen and a promising freshman,” said PI coach Carl Flynn. “One of our team’s goals this year is to have a goals-against average of less than two, and so far after three games it is 1.00.”
The Wildcats’ first goal came at the 5:06 mark of the second period as Campbell tallied on a 5-on-3 power play off assists by Brennen Shaw and Jason Martin. Connor Shaw also picked up a power-play goal with 1:29 left in the period, assisted by Brennen Shaw and Caleb Buck. Presque Isle owned a 19-1 shot advantage in the period.
Campbell, off assists recorded by Isaac LaJoie and Steve Ford, scored on a breakaway midway through the third period before Connor Shaw scored off another assist by his brother, Brennen, with 1:38 left to cap the scoring.
Presque Isle played Orono at home last night and are now preparing for Friday’s rematch of last year’s Class B state championship game against Greely. The puck will drop at 6 p.m. at the Forum.
